That’s why we’ve been sourcing wines from select winemakers and wineries in the Ortenau region for many years now, and why we deliberately serve only regional wines in our restaurant.

This way, you can sample a local wine over dinner and perhaps visit the very winery where it comes from the very next day.

Wine Hiking in the Ortenau
 

The Ortenau region is especially beautiful to explore on foot. Numerous hiking trails wind through vineyards, over scenic hills
and past wineries and cozy places to stop for a break.

The Ortenau Wine Trail, which connects the region’s wine-growing areas, is particularly well known.
 In addition, there are various wine loops and gourmet trails that offer an excellent combination of hiking, scenery, and wine.

All around Durbach and Oberkirch, there are countless impressive views across the vineyards to the Rhine Valley and—on a clear day—to the Vosges Mountains.

This makes the Hanauerhof an ideal starting point for wine-tasting hikes in the Ortenau: enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the morning, then head out into the vineyards, and round off the day in the evening with a good glass of Ortenau wine.
